Trauma and Acute Care Advanced Practice Provider

About the role

The Section of General Surgery at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH is seeking a full-time Advanced Practice Provider (Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner) to join an established and collaborative group on the Trauma & Acute Care Surgery team. The APP will be dedicated to inpatient care on the high-volume Trauma & Acute Care Surgery service, which is comprised of trauma and emergency general surgery patients. They will work collaboratively with a team of advanced practitioners dedicated to the Trauma & Acute Care Surgery service.

Responsibilities

  • Oversight of acutely ill trauma and surgery patients, including evaluation of patients on the inpatient units and the trauma bay
  • Creation and execution of daily care plans
  • Care coordination with consultant services
  • Discharge planning and coordination
  • Maintain a patient and family-centered focus throughout the hospital course
  • Work closely with nursing, consulting services, general surgery residents, rehab services, case management, and attending physicians

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of advanced practice provider experience preferred
  • New graduates considered with EMS background, educational exposure to critical care, trauma, or surgical specialties
  • Experience with inpatient medicine or surgical service preferred
  • ACLS certification required
  • Current (or eligible) certification to practice as a PA or APRN in NH
  • Successful completion of an approved PA/APRN program
  • Master's degree required
