Advanced Practice Provider Trauma

Summary

The Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant will provide continuity of care for surgical patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings, acting as an integral part of the surgical service.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

- Conducts history and physical exams, orders and interprets lab tests, prescribes medications, develops and monitors patient treatment plans, makes referrals, and prescribes and orders appropriate treatment modalities. - Performs minor procedures such as peripheral IV access, central venous access, PICC line placement, wound repair, tube thoracostomy, tracheostomy changes, arterial catheter placement, drain/suture/removal, and assisting with surgery. - Collaborates with unit teachers and clinical nurse specialists to educate nurses and precept medical students and other NP/PAs. - Treats patients with respect and dignity. - Participates in research and educational activities. - Obtains Human Subjects Protection and HIPAA compliance training. - Establishes and maintains professional development goals. - Prepares health education materials. - Attends and participates in continuing education and maintains required certifications. - Maintains ACLS certification. - Participates in multidisciplinary meetings related to surgery.

Educational Requirements

- Master’s Degree

Licenses and Certifications

- Current Rhode Island licensure as a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA). - Current DEA licensure.

Experience and Skills

- Strong interpersonal skills.

Supervisory Responsibility

- None.

Pay Range

$127,504.00-$161,782.40
