Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Works closely with all clerical staff.
- Greets patient and prepares their files for the technologist to perform examinations.
- Checks x-rays out to patents in a proper and timely manner.
- Mails loaned x-rays that have been requested for comparison purposes.
- Follows up on x-rays that have been requested for comparison purposes.
- Takes and relays accurate telephone messages and transferring telephone calls within the department.
- Assigns new patient numbers accurately, and entering new patient information into the computer on a daily basis.
- Prints the CT, Nuclear Medicine, Mammogram, and MRI Schedules and distribute to the appropriate departments for the outpatient and/or x-ray reception counter prior to 5:00 pm daily.
- Ensures neatness and cleanliness of the receptionist waiting room, front counter, receptionist area, books, etc.
- Notifies housekeeping when waiting room and front counter reception/file room carpets and furniture need cleaning.
- Performs all department clerical systematic functions.
- Keeps adequate clerical supplies.
- Provides communications within the department regarding day to day clerical functions and personnel.
- Makes recommendations to the Clerical Staff Supervisor for any necessary change in the clerical area.
- Provides confidential support and/or advice to those being supervised as needed or requested.
- Promotes the dignity of each department member.
- Offers assistance to department personnel when necessary, making the department more productive while improving the quality of care given.
- Observes all infection control policies and procedures.
- Provides awareness of the value of each department and all hospital personnel as they relate to the Medical Imaging Department.
- Becomes aware of potential safety hazards to ensure patient and employee safety.
- Serves as a liaison between the Medical Imaging Department and the nursing staff.
- Ensures service is called for repair or maintenance of equipment if necessary.
- Provides awareness of patient dignity and modesty, and handle all department and patient matters with utmost confidentiality.
- Ensures the reporting of all employee and patient related incidents to assure the quality of care and concern at Opelousas General Health System.
- Ensures the reporting of potential safety hazards to the Supervising Technologist to assure patient and employee safety.
- Performs and carries out other reasonable requests or duties which may be made or assigned from time to time.
- Pursues appropriate continuing education and obtains required education credits as mandated by credentialing organization at OGHS to include CPR certification.
- Maintains and observes universal precautions within the standard practice of care.
- Utilizes, follows, and refers to the Policy and Procedure Manual and Procedure Protocol of all modalities, as well as following the OGHS Employee Handbook of personnel policies.
Education
A high school diploma/GED is required.
Licenses/Certifications
CPR is required.
