Transporter

About the role

As our Patient Transporter, you will provide essential assistance and transportation for patients and related items across our campus, ensuring a highly customer-sensitive and seamless experience. Every day you will promptly and safely transport inpatients and outpatients to and from various hospital areas. You will be expected to meticulously confirm patient identification, greet and assist in transferring patients, and make conscious observations of patient condition during transport, reporting any issues to appropriate personnel. You will also maintain a clean and organized work area and report any malfunctioning equipment.

Responsibilities

• Safely transports inpatients and emergency room patients to Radiology using stretchers, wheelchairs, or by walking, based on patient care staff direction and patient ambulation abilities
• Actively participates in all National Patient Safety Goals, including proper patient identification, handwashing, and other Joint Commission/CMS mandates
• Reports any equipment malfunctions or repair needs to appropriate supervisory staff
• Receives, prioritizes, and responds to incoming calls effectively
• Utilizes the CHI incident reporting system for patient injuries, concerns, and equipment/supply failures
• Understands and participates in providing coverage for other campuses/sites during staffing shortages as needed

Requirements

• BLS-CPR certification upon hire

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)

Pay

$15.00 - $20.12 /hour
