Key Responsibilities
- Maintain expert knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR), OSHA requirements, DOT regulations, and applicable state agencies.
- Monitor regulatory changes and ensure company policies remain compliant with evolving federal and state requirements.
- Provide guidance to managers regarding compliance issues, corrective actions, investigations, and regulatory requirements.
- Support regulatory inquiries, audits, and inspections while partnering with HSE, Quality, Regulatory, Security, and Legal teams.
- Oversee transportation safety standards, fleet compliance, licensing, and regulatory training initiatives.
- Lead safety initiatives across warehouse and transportation operations to promote a culture of health, safety, and continuous improvement.
- Conduct facility safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments.
- Develop recommendations to improve workplace safety, reduce incidents, and enhance operational compliance.
- Partner with operational leadership to ensure safety programs align with business objectives.
- Develop and deliver employee safety training covering transportation operations, warehouse safety, material handling, fleet operations, and regulatory compliance.
- Coordinate safety meetings, toolbox talks, and ongoing compliance training.
- Track training completion and ensure compliance across multiple operational locations.
- Support development of standardized training materials and safety best practices.
- Partner with Operations Managers, Transportation Managers, Warehouse Leadership, HR, and executive leadership to improve operational safety performance.
- Provide guidance to leaders regarding safety performance, compliance issues, and operational improvements.
- Support multi-site safety initiatives while maintaining strong cross-functional relationships.
- Aid in performance management and coaching related to safety compliance and operational standards.
- Develop and monitor KPIs related to transportation safety, warehouse safety, compliance, training, and incident reduction.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly safety reports for leadership.
- Analyze accident trends, incident reports, and safety metrics to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Lead Safety Improvement Programs (SIPs) and corrective action initiatives.
- Develop project plans supporting company-wide safety initiatives and operational improvements.
Qualifications
- Associate's degree required; Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in transportation safety, warehouse operations, supply chain, or a related environment.
- 2+ years of leadership or people management experience.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA, DOT, FMCSR, FDA, DEA, and applicable state regulatory requirements.
- Experience developing and implementing transportation and warehouse safety programs.
- Experience conducting audits, inspections, accident investigations, and regulatory compliance activities.
- Strong communication, leadership, organizational, and analytical skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and Word.
- Ability to travel approximately 50% to multiple operational locations.
