Duties

  • Notifying utility companies of planned construction projects
  • Conducting meetings to inform utility companies of proposed highway design
  • Preparing agreements to ensure appropriate reimbursement of utility relocation/adjustment costs
  • Issuing certification per state and federal regulations

Qualifications

  • A 2-year technical degree in civil engineering technology, engineering/architectural drafting, or a vocational technical degree in a related field
  • A 4-year construction management degree is preferred
  • Related experience in highway and/or utility construction is preferred
  • Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and policies regarding the location and relocation of utilities (preferred but not required)
  • Knowledge of utilities operations and standards (preferred but not required)
  • Knowledge of legal land descriptions (preferred but not required)
  • Knowledge of principles related to design and construction of projects (preferred but not required)
  • Ability to use MicroStation/Inroads or similar computer aided drafting (CAD) software (preferred but not required)
  • Ability to read and interpret utility plans and maps (preferred but not required)
  • Ability to read and interpret highway construction plans or related construction plans
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally

The total compensation of Hourly Wage + State/Federal Benefits for a typical year for entry level Transportation Utilities Coordinator is approximately $85,220.00 annually.
