Transportation Technician

Instrumentum is a national sterile processing partner that helps hospitals and surgery centers run efficient, compliant, and safe instrument reprocessing operations. We ensure every instrument is surgery-ready to the highest standards, so our partners can focus on what matters most — delivering exceptional care. This Delivery Driver position is based in Richmond, VA, supporting local hospitals and surgery centers by transporting sterilized surgical instrument totes and carts.

Responsibilities

• Drive a company van or truck along assigned routes to deliver and pick up sterilized surgical instrument totes and carts
• Follow GPS routing to keep every stop on schedule
• Load and unload instruments carefully so nothing is damaged in transit
• Collect signatures on proof-of-delivery paperwork at every stop
• Represent Instrumentum professionally at each customer site — you're often the only person from our company a customer sees that day
• Complete a vehicle safety check before every shift and keep basic maintenance and fuel logs current
• Follow DOT regulations and company driving standards on every route
• Wear required PPE and follow infection-prevention procedures when handling instruments

Requirements

• Valid Class C driver's license
• Clean motor vehicle record — subject to periodic DMV and/or DOT checks
• At least 1 year of commercial or route-based driving experience
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to push and pull loaded carts weighing up to 400 lbs

Qualifications

• Previous customer-service or client-facing experience
• Associate degree
• Comfort following detailed documentation and safety procedures with minimal supervision

Skills

• Treat every stop as critical — a missed pickup can delay a surgery
• Comfortable driving the same routes daily and handling repetitive documentation accurately
• Self‑motivated; able to perform duties correctly without constant supervision
• Capable of regular physical handling, including pushing/pulling cart
