Requirements

  • High School Graduate or equivalent
  • BLS certification through the American Heart Association for Healthcare Providers
  • Ability to solve problems
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced environment

About the Role

The Transportation Tech assists members of the health care team in the transporting and well-being of patients by performing specific tasks as directed by patient caregivers. The Transportation Tech is a patient advocate and works with all departments to ensure timely movement of patients throughout the JMC system and services.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrating high quality competency to assist staff with transporting of patients to and from various medical departments and service lines in a safe and compassionate manner
  • Assists in maintaining and adjusting schedules to meet the needs of the department
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Physical Requirements

  • This job can be physically demanding at times requiring stooping, sitting, standing, and walking for long periods of time
  • Frequently assist lifting patients and heavy equipment
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment, work independently, making sound decisions, detail-oriented, alert, and self-motivated
  • Ability to push/pull up to 40 lbs., carry and lift up to 50 lbs.

Threshold Requirements

  • Annual Joint Commission mandatory education requirements, in-service and health requirements including attendance at new employee orientation
  • TB/PPD Surveillance Program
  • Maintenance of required professional licensing and/or certification(s)
