TRANSPORTATION SURVEYOR PARTY CHIEF (CALTRANS)
About the role
The Transportation Surveyor Party Chief (TS-PC) under the direction of a Senior Transportation Surveyor, is the first professional qualified supervisory level requiring a valid California Land Surveyors' License or equivalent. This role supervises technical staff in performing various types of land surveying work, including construction, project development, maintenance, and right of way surveys. The incumbent makes decisions and directs a variety of complex professional land surveying tasks.
Responsibilities
- Supervise technical staff in the performance of field survey work of all types.
- Make decisions and direct a wide variety of difficult and complex professional land surveying work.
- Personally make land surveying decisions; review and approve crew member decisions before implementation.
- Ensure decisions affecting the health, safety, and welfare of the public are considered.
Requirements
The position requires a valid California Land Surveyors' License or equivalent. Applicants must provide a copy of their license prior to being hired. A valid driver's license is required when operating state-owned or leased vehicles.
Qualifications
Possession of the minimum qualifications will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment. If applying based on education, unofficial transcripts/diplomas must be provided for verification. Foreign transcripts/degrees must be evaluated to determine equivalency.
