TRANSPORTATION/SUPERVISOR
About the Role
Assist in the oversight and execution of daily operations in the transportation department. Understand total distribution, transportation, and store operations, with an emphasis on carrier supply chain programs to provide lower cost of product. Coordinate activities of third-party vendors. Responsible for hourly associates' safety, productivity, and engagement supporting all facets of transportation, operating efficiency, and customer satisfaction. Responsibilities
- Supervise and develop a team of non-exempt associates in daily operations
- Maintain on-time deliveries with a Full, Fresh and Friendly mindset
- Collaborate and build relationships with other DTC departments to coordinate schedules and deliveries
- Follow established programs, policies, and practices to identify and address transportation/service opportunities in a timely manner
- Assist in identifying and designing technology and procedural-based solutions to increase associates' productivity and adhere to proper and safe work methods regarding equipment activity and yard control system
- Support and communicate with other department supervisors and managers in problem-solving through collaborative efforts to schedule deliveries, equipment, and backhauls
- Communicate with stores to solve delivery problems
- Maintain records of mileage, fuel used, repairs made, and other expenses
- Track trailers using Orbcomm technology
- Establish delivery routes and maintain records of mileage, fuel used, repairs made, and other expenses
- Execute the backhaul program with a strong emphasis on O.R.A.D. compliance
- Communicate with fellow supervisors and management on all activities related to daily operations and aligning the business, people, and safety practices to achieve key metrics
- Maintain high standards of professionalism and a positive work environment
- Create a responsive and informed workforce through communication methods that include regular meetings and huddles
- Supervise and coach direct reports in the performance of their duties; complete performance reviews and provide feedback to direct reports
Requirements
- Minimum High School Diploma or GED
- 2+ years of experience in Transportation, Distribution, or Manufacturing
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Strong understanding of D.O.T. compliance laws
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to respond to changing business priorities
- Strong time management skills
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task while providing accurate and on-time results
- Ability to identify business problems and develop efficient and effective solutions
- Demonstrated ability to coach and train
- Ability to collaborate and work cooperatively in a team-based environment
- Strong understanding of industry/technical terms and processes
Qualifications
- Desired Bachelor's Degree
- 2+ years of experience leading a team or project
