Transportation Supervisor

ADUSA Transportation is the transportation company of Ahold Delhaize USA, providing transportation services to one of the largest grocery retail supply chains in the nation. ADUSA Transportation delivers fresh and nonperishable products to local brand stores and supports the sustainability of the supply chain by returning recyclable items to recycling centers for processing. Our team is supporting the supply chain network evolution to become a fully integrated self-distribution model of the future, serving leading omnichannel grocery brands—Food Lion, Giant Food, The GIANT Company, Hannaford, and Stop & Shop.
As a Transportation Supervisor, you'll play a key role in ensuring the smooth, safe, and efficient flow of product through our distribution center. You'll lead a team of associates, uphold performance standards, and collaborate across departments to deliver exceptional service to our retail partners and customers. In this role, you'll partner closely with the Operations Manager and cross-functional teams—including Transportation and Inventory Management—to meet production goals, improve processes, and create a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Lead & Inspire Your Team: Supervise day-to-day activities for the assigned department and staff. Coach, develop, and hold associates accountable through performance planning, feedback, and recognition.
- Develop Talent: Assist with hiring, onboarding, training, and developing new and existing associates to build a high-performing team.
- Drive Operational Excellence: Partner with Receiving, Shipping, Transportation, and Inventory Management to ensure accurate, efficient, and timely product flow in and out of the distribution center.
- Optimize Staffing & Productivity: Monitor daily staffing levels, assign labor management tasks, and adjust resources to meet production demands.
- Ensure Safety, Accuracy & Compliance: Enforce company policies, safety standards, and operational procedures. Communicate and administer corrective action when necessary.
- Lead Communication & Collaboration: Hold departmental meetings, communicate shift updates, and coordinate with other departments to minimize operational disruptions.
- Champion Continuous Improvement: Identify waste and inefficiencies, recommend process improvements, and act as a "change agent" for lean practices. Help foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
- Support Business Goals: Help achieve departmental operational and budget goals. Provide accurate reports and insights to the Distribution Center Leadership Team.
- Project & Process Leadership: Lead assigned projects and tasks, and recommend modifications to procedures or workflows that increase efficiency, productivity, and cost savings.
Requirements
- Experience: 1-3 years of experience in a distribution or warehouse environment. Prior experience supervising or leading teams (preferred).
- Education & Certifications: High school diploma or equivalent (required). Certified on powered industrial equipment, where applicable.
Skills
- Familiarity with distribution center operations.
