Transportation Specialist

About the role

Transportation Specialist for Pilgrim’s who coordinates the transportation planning of customer replenishment orders in the most cost effective and efficient manner possible, while meeting all customer service expectations. This role will sit at our Mayfield plant in KY.

Responsibilities

• Book daily shipments out of 3rd‑party warehouses and/or plants (approx. 100 domestic loads/week)
• Review shipment routing and freight costs to ensure maximum savings
• Assist claims in resolution of transportation of rejected product
• Assist in tracking late and potential late trucks
• Communicate and advise plant and sales team about drivers scheduled, load delays, drop trailers, etc.
• Maintain and review carrier performance of on‑time delivery
• Maintain drop trailer and plant trailer pools
• Daily communication with carriers out of your facility and building relationships with key carriers
• On call 24/7, via cell phone, to deal with transportation or carrier issues that may arise
• May be required to travel to other facilities, attend company events, or represent the company as needed
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Minimum high school diploma or GED equivalent
• Experience in transportation industry preferred
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and accuracy a must
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent organizational skills

Skills

• SAP knowledge preferred
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite preferred – basic Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.
• Can perform the functions of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation

Pay

• Base salary range of $59,000 and
• Incentive Pay: eligible to participate in the Company’s annual bonus plan; amount varies and is subject to standard terms and conditions
