Transportation Specialist

Contract Period: 1 year
Location: Grand Prairie, TX 75050 – 100% onsite
Work Hours: 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM

Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate warehouse and transportation operations by tracking freight from origin to destination.
• Manage data across both warehouse and transportation business as needed by Management.
• Communicate closely with customers to ensure smooth operation without issues and service satisfaction.
• Proactively identify and assess solutions to cost incurrence such as demurrage, detention, and work for smooth resolution to protect SDS and its customers.
• Monitor LSP performance continually and evaluate, with feedback provided on a routine basis.
• Communicate with carriers and associated vendors on a frequent and consistent basis.
• Process container returns, bobtail decisions related to overall logistics operation for proper handling of business.
• Other responsibilities as required by the Site Manager, Warehouse Manager, and Transportation Manager.

Requirements

• 3+ years of operation or logistics-related relevant experience.
• Strong understanding of freight and logistics systems.
• Bachelor’s Degree preferred; High School GED required.
• Ability to effectively work under the pressure of deadlines in a multi-task, production environment.
• Detail-oriented, with the ability to thoroughly research, analyze, and develop solutions to complex processing and workflow issues.
• Ability to quickly grasp situational issues and derive solutions to problems.
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel, including v-lookups and pivot tables.
• Excellent presentation, communication, and organizational skills, including effective written and verbal communication to interact with various levels of the organization.

Pay

$25.00 per hour
