About the District

Responsibilities

• Assign drivers to cover required work under general supervision.
• Schedule and coordinate efficient and effective school bus transportation for students requiring service.
• Assist in the training and supervision of drivers.
• Keep necessary records; handle complaints on routing and scheduling.
• Assist and provide support to Transportation staff; monitor and direct the work of drivers and other staff.

Knowledge and Skills

• Knowledge of transportation routing and scheduling including computer systems application.
• Knowledge of laws and regulations governing the transportation of pupils in the State of California.
• Knowledge of materials, equipment and standard practices of transporting all types of students.

Education and Experience

• Completion of 12th grade, or any combination of education, experience, and training which meets or exceeds the standards of knowledge, skills, and abilities listed above.
• At least three years’ experience in school pupil transportation.
• Experience and/or education related to home-to-school and/or special education routing for school pupil transportation.
• Previous dispatch experience is preferred.

Licenses and Other Requirements

• Maintain a valid Class B California Driver’s License with appropriate endorsements.
• Valid California School Bus Driver and Medical certificates and First Aid certificate.
• All drivers are subject to random drug testing.
• Provide certificate copy (California School Bus Driver & Medical certificates), CPR/First Aid Certification, and driver's license copy (valid Class B California Driver's License).
