About the role

The Transportation Project Manager will oversee design of roadways, highways, and interstates from preliminary to final stages. Key responsibilities include managing project scopes, budgets, and schedules, leading project teams, and contributing to strategic growth initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a project manager on transportation projects, managing scopes, budgets, and schedules.
  • Manage project teams and technical staff, including mentoring and leading other professionals and student interns.
  • Contribute to Nebraska, regional, and corporate strategic growth initiatives.
  • Participate in business development and marketing, including relationship building with key clients and preparing proposals.
  • Represent Benesch at industry and professional engagement events.
  • Identify and lead strategic project pursuits.
  • Lead and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Present findings through written and verbal communications, including public speaking at information meetings, client meetings, and interviews.
  • Prepare and assist with grant applications.

Requirements

This is an experienced position requiring 8+ years of experience in design of roadways, highways, and interstates from preliminary to final stages. A B.S. degree in Engineering or a related field, and a Professional Engineering License in Nebraska (or the ability to obtain one upon hire), are required.

Excellent communication, strong written and oral skills, experience interacting with clients, agencies, and other stakeholders, and the ability to make presentations before elected officials and advisory boards are essential.

Qualifications

Experience in making presentations before elected officials and advisory boards, attending conferences, and participating in interviews is preferred.

Strong organization and leadership skills are required.

Experience in preparing technical analysis within various specialist areas such as transit plans, transit operational analyses, multimodal subarea/corridor studies, modal compliance, transit grants management, and special transit studies is desirable.

Experience in project management, including cost control, project budget control, and quality assurance/quality control is necessary.

Direct and manage the budgeting and execution of projects, including supervision of assigned staff and subcontractors.

Skills

Experience in the public bidding process is preferred.
