About the role
This role is built for someone hungry for knowledge, ready to make a real difference, and excited to bring genuine attention to every project — no matter how early in your career you're starting.
Responsibilities
- Help design and develop transportation projects — roadways, intersections, pedestrian facilities, traffic improvements — the everyday infrastructure people rely on without even thinking about it
- Build engineering drawings, plans, and 3D models using CAD software (MicroStation, OpenRoads, AutoCAD Civil 3D)
- Run engineering calculations covering alignments, grading, drainage, quantities, and traffic control layouts
- Support project documents like cost estimates, technical reports, design summaries, and bid packages
- Get out of the office for field visits — data collection, condition assessments, surveying coordination, construction observation
- Team up with senior engineers, project managers, and multidisciplinary groups to build real design solutions
- Prepare IDOT, LPA, or municipal submittals and keep everything aligned with design standards
- Dig into topographic surveys, geotechnical reports, environmental documents, and utility data
- Coordinate with clients, utility companies, and permitting agencies as needed
- Contribute to internal QA/QC processes, documentation, and design reviews
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
- 0–5 years of experience in transportation, roadway, or municipal infrastructure design — genuinely open to candidates just starting out

- A grasp of geometric design principles, drainage, traffic control, and plan development
- Comfort assisting with design calculations, drawings, cost estimates, and technical documentation
