As a Project Engineer 2, you will join our Transportation team in our Middletown or Shelton, CT office, where you’ll play a key role in delivering vital infrastructure projects across the Northeast. Working with industry experts, you’ll tackle complex challenges that strengthen community resilience and advance environmental sustainability.
Responsibilities
- Lead and assist in the design and development of roadway/highway projects, including horizontal and vertical alignment, intersection and interchange design, and ADA compliance
- Prepare engineering plans, specifications, and cost estimates in accordance with Connecticut DOT and local agency standards
- Perform geometric design, grading, drainage, pavement design, and traffic control planning
- Conduct site assessments, feasibility studies, and engineering analyses as required
- Cook with internal multidisciplinary teams including traffic, structural, environmental, and survey professionals
- Manage project schedules, budgets, and deliverables; ensure compliance with contract requirements and regulatory standards
- Communicate with clients, stakeholders, and public agencies to provide project updates and resolve technical challenges
- Mentor junior staff and support business development through proposal preparation and client meetings
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) – required
- 8+ years of progressive experience in roadway and highway design
- Proficiency in MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, AutoCAD Civil 3D, or equivalent design software
- Strong understanding of AASHTO, MUTCD, and local DOT design standards
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
Preferred Requirements
- Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or Transportation Engineering
- Experience with municipal roadways
- Familiarity with permitting processes and environmental documentation
- Active participation in professional organizations (ASCE, ITE, APWA, etc.)
