About the role

Arc Voyagers is a mission-driven nonprofit organization serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities across Central Ohio. We offer a range of person-centered services including employment coaching, life skills development, employment placement, adult day resource centers, and community-based day programming.

Responsibilities

  • Safe & Dependable Transportation: Operate a wheelchair-accessible shuttle vehicle to safely transport individuals to and from ARC Voyagers’ facilities and programs.
  • Create Positive Experiences: Provide a welcoming, respectful, and supportive environment for every passenger during each trip.
  • Support Independence: Play a direct role in supporting the independence and quality of life of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
  • Safety First: Follow all traffic laws, complete vehicle inspections, and ensure passengers and adaptive equipment are properly secured.
  • Hands-On Assistance: Assist passengers with boarding, offboarding, and wheelchair accessibility equipment as needed.
  • Keep Things Running Smoothly: Complete route attendance, communicate transportation concerns, and document incidents or maintenance needs when necessary.
  • Stay Active & Engaged: This is an active role that keeps you moving and interacting with people throughout the day.

Requirements

  • Must submit to a BCII/FBI background check and Nurses Aid & Abuser Registry checks.
  • Maintain American Red Cross or equivalent first aid and CPR certification.
  • Valid State of Ohio Driver’s License and insurability standards.
  • Complete eight hours of training as required by The Ohio Department of Developmental upon hire.
  • Must pass a driver physical and drug screen.
  • Must be able to operate a wheel-chair accessible shuttle vehicle safely and efficiently.
