About the role

The Transportation Planner at MetroCOG will perform professional and technical work involving transportation policy and planning, including data collection, analysis and reporting; oversight of transportation studies, programs, and special projects; report writing; grant identification, writing, and administration; project management; participation on technical advisory committees and working groups; government relations; public outreach and education; and other responsibilities pertaining to the transportation planning process.

Responsibilities

  • Project management (including procurement, contract negotiation, implementation, and closeout)
  • Participation on technical advisory committees and working groups
  • Government relations
  • Public outreach and education

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Regional/City/Urban Planning, Transportation/Civil Engineering, Public Administration or a closely related field.
  • Master’s Degree preferred OR an appropriate combination of education and experience.

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong oral & written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to interpret laws and regulations
  • Proficient with computer software
  • Build and maintain working relationships with agency staff, board members, municipal partners, consultants, appointed and elected officials and members of the public

Pay

Compensation is commensurate with experience.

Schedule
