About the role
The Connecticut Metropolitan Council of Governments (MetroCOG) is seeking a Transportation Planner to join their team. This position will work under the guidance and supervision of the Deputy Director or their designee.
Responsibilities
- Data collection, analysis, and reporting
- Oversight of transportation studies, programs, and special projects
- Report writing
- Grant identification, writing, and administration
- Project management (including procurement, contract negotiation, implementation, and closeout)
- Participation on technical advisory committees and working groups
- Government relations
- Public outreach and education
- Other responsibilities pertaining to the transportation planning process
Requirements
- General knowledge of multi-modal transportation planning
- Knowledge of federal transportation planning rules/regulations and government operations (preferred)
- Strong oral & written communication and interpersonal skills
- Able to interpret laws and regulations
- Proficient with computer software
- Ability to build and maintain working relationships with various stakeholders
Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Regional/City/Urban Planning, Transportation/Civil Engineering, Public Administration, or a closely related field
- Master’s Degree preferred OR an appropriate combination of education and experience

Pay
This is a full-time position. Salary is commensurate with experience.
