About the role

This position supports all Entergy equipment and vehicles. It involves performing maintenance, inspection, repairs, diagnostics on various types of equipment including aerial devices, digger derricks, medium/heavy duty trucks, light duty vehicles, forklifts, and off-road equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, maintain, and repair electrical, mechanical, pneumatic systems; gas and diesel engines; mobile hydraulic systems utilized on aerial devices.
  • Support medium and heavy duty bucket trucks, digger derricks, and occasionally off-road equipment such as dozers, skidders, and marsh buggies.
  • Communicate and cooperate with peers, supervisors, and internal customers to maintain a safe and productive environment.
  • Operate a field service vehicle and travel to various job sites to perform work.
  • Prepare records on all maintenance activities.
  • Work extended hours and at times may be subject to alternate reporting locations and storm travel outside of Entergy's territory.
  • Work in a shop location as needed, performing work and maintaining an orderly and environmentally safe work site.
  • Safely operate a field service vehicle and travel to various job sites to perform assigned work.
  • Direct work of assistants, instruct, and train other employees.
  • Perform non-critical welding.
  • Comply with DOT, DOE, OSHA regulations and directives.

Qualifications

  • At least 1 year of experience in automotive industry or equivalent certification/diploma from an accredited institution.
  • Class A Commercial Driver’s License and DOT med card.
  • Experience or certification in welding and fabrication.
  • Basic knowledge of personal computer operations and related software.
  • Experience with engine diagnostic software.
  • Completion of necessary training modules as set forth by the Safety and Training department.
  • Self-motivated and dependable team player.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work irregular hours and out of town assignments as required.
  • Ability to take and understand directives and complete tasks with limited supervision.
  • Ability to plan and lay out all work in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Ability to recognize hazards in the workplace and have the ability to mitigate the hazards.
  • Ability to maintain and care for Company equipment properly and safeguard assets.
  • Ability to meet the public in a pleasant and tactful manner and understand the importance of delivering a high level of customer service.
  • Ability to recognize opportunities for process improvement.
  • Demonstrated acceptance of a diverse and inclusive work environment and customer base.

Skills

  • Basic knowledge of personal computer operations and related software.
  • Experience with engine diagnostic software.
  • Completion of necessary training modules as set forth by the Safety and Training department.
  • Ability to interpret electrical and hydraulic schematic drawings.
  • Ability to use physical strength to perform required tasks in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to operate a variety of vehicles and equipment.
  • Ability to perform non-critical welding.
