Responsibilities
- Full ownership of the transportation function in a high-volume, customer-focused DC
- Leadership of 8–10 Transportation Supervisors, 190–220 drivers, and a team of Routers
- Driver selection, onboarding, coaching, performance management, and safety compliance
- DOT and OSHA compliance oversight
- Routing optimization to maximize customer satisfaction and route profitability
- Fleet maintenance, equipment scheduling, and rental coordination
- Daily delivery scheduling, backhaul planning, and route adjustments
- Maintenance and monitoring of computerized fleet management systems (RoadNet, XATA, Tripmaster)
- Annual transportation budget preparation and cost analysis (fuel, leases, equipment)
- Closing partnership with the Warehouse Manager to maximize operational efficiency
Requirements
- A High School Diploma/GED
- 4+ years of transportation experience with strong DOT knowledge
- Preferably from food distribution: broadline, wholesale, retail, or foodservice
- 2+ years as a Transportation Manager
- Experience developing staffing models and forecasting labor
- Strong KPI and productivity analysis skills
- Budget management experience
- Proactive leadership style — not reactive
- Strong service ethic and customer-first mindset
- Experience with computerized fleet systems (Samsara, RoadNet, XATA, etc.)
- Class A CDL preferred
