Transportation Management Center (TMC) Operator

About the role

GFT is seeking a part-time Transportation Management Center (TMC) Operator to join the Practice or CBG Team in Chipley, FL. This on‑site role requires regular attendance at the Chipley office and involves real‑time traffic operations using advanced technology, live video, and coordination with DOT teams to keep drivers safe and informed 24/7.

Responsibilities

• Monitor roadway conditions using CCTV, traffic data, and apps such as Waze and Google Traffic
• Detect incidents quickly and coordinate response with DOT, law enforcement, and field crews
• Dispatch maintenance teams for urgent and routine roadway needs
• Update Variable and Dynamic Message Signs to inform travelers in real time
• Verify traveler information across DOT platforms
• Track closures, hotspots, work zones, and equipment issues

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to multitask and stay sharp under pressure
• Flexibility for varied schedules and on‑call needs
• Preferred: Experience with dispatching, traffic systems, or fast‑paced monitoring environments
• Preferred: Familiarity with local DOT roadways or background in public safety/transportation

Pay

The position offers an hourly rate of $20‑22, depending on experience and geographic location.

Schedule

Full‑time (40 hours per week) with flexible shifts; the TMC operates 24/7/365, requiring on‑site attendance in Chipley, FL.
