Job Responsibilities
- Performs inspection duties and ensures contractors follow contract requirements and standard specifications.
- Affords assistance to project managers in making routine daily decisions concerning construction practices on assigned construction projects.
- Collaborates with contractor and the Department to ensure progress of work.
- Ensures all data has been collected and compiled accurately on daily dairies and construction reports according to Department policy.
- Responsible for final construction plans on assigned projects.
- Ensures that proper sampling and testing of materials are performed according to the Department specifications.
- Collaborates with the utility companies for the relocation of utilities on assigned construction projects.
- Affords assistance with office and managerial procedures, corresponding with contractors and Department personnel on assigned projects.
- Affords assistance with emergency and inclement weather operations as needed, may be required to work extended hours and/or 12 hour shifts.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum And Additional Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Construction Science and Management; or an approved acceptable equivalence.
- The physical demands for the essential functions of this position involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time.
- This position may require travel.
- This position may require bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, and kneeling.
- This position required driving and walking for extended periods, treading rough and uneven terrain, working in close proximity to motoring traffic, and natural environmental hazards.
- May be required to work outside of normal work schedule, especially during inclement weather and/or other departmental-related emergencies.
- This position may be exposed to outside environment in all weather conditions and noise.
- A motor vehicle operator’s license is required.
