Job Responsibilities

Performs inspection duties and ensures contractor follows contract requirements and standard specifications.

Assists project managers in making routine daily decisions concerning construction practices on assigned construction projects.

Covers coordination work between contractor and the Department to ensure smooth progress of work.

Ensures all data has been collected and complied accurately on daily diaries and construction reports according to Department policy.

Responsible for final construction plans on assigned projects.

Ensures that proper sampling and testing of materials are performed according to the Department specifications.

Covers coordination with utility companies for the relocations of utilities on assigned construction projects.

Aids in office and managerial procedures, corresponding with contractors and Department personnel on assigned projects.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum And Additional Requirements

A bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Construction Science and Management; or an approved acceptable equivalence.

Physical Requirement: The physical demands for the essential functions of this position involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time. This position may require travel.

This position may require bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, and kneeling.

This position required driving and walking for extended periods, treading rough and uneven terrain, working in close proximity to motoring traffic, and natural environmental hazards.

May be required to work outside of normal work schedule, especially during inclement weather and/or other departmental-related emergencies.

This position may be exposed to outside environment in all weather conditions and noise.

A motor vehicle operator’s license is required.
