POSITION INFORMATION

DGL is seeking a Civil Engineer to join the Roadway Department. This role aims to enhance the department's capabilities and qualifications through the use of prescribed methods, standard techniques, and practices.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Aid the roadway team with production duties including plan preparation, design detailing, drainage calculations, and reports.
  • Perform design tasks such as pavement design, horizontal and vertical design, closed and open drainage system design, and BMP design.
  • Involvement in client meetings, responding to RFI’s, and proposal preparation.
  • Assist with the oversight of entry-level engineers and budgeting of work tasks.
  • Contribute to calculations, record keeping, and timely communication of key issues to supervisors.
  • Communicate with leadership regarding project scope and coordinate with engineers on project requirements.
  • Apply design standards, standard drawings, and CAD requirements for DOT and local agencies.
  • Engage in periodic industry events and related marketing activities.

Skill Set

  • Experience with relevant computer software (Open Roads Designer, ProjectWise, AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microsoft Office, Bluebeam).
  • Design and plan preparation experience based on DOT and other municipality's specifications and preferred standards.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks.
  • Outgoing, self-motivated, collaborative team player.
  • Proven success in delivering high-quality project submittals.
  • Professional demeanor.
  • Overtime hours may be requested based on project workload and submission deadlines.
