Transportation Engineer

About the role

Moffatt & Nichol specializes in large complex infrastructure projects and is recognized as one of the worldwide leaders in this field. We are actively looking for a Transportation Engineer – Roadway to join our Raleigh, North Carolina office.

Responsibilities

• Manage a variety of projects – roadway NCDOT & municipal design projects and develop plans for projects across the state, US and potentially internationally.
• Perform engineering design tasks for roadway projects from preliminary to final design for DOT, municipal, and private sector clients.
• Develop specifications, cost estimates, and prepare final bid packages.
• Maintain and establish working relationships with regulatory agencies, local government, NCDOT, and other state and private sector clients.
• Provide engineering design services for design-bid-build highway and alternative delivery of projects.
• Manage client communications and project development for all stages of transportation design projects.
• Participate in project decisions regarding technical approaches, cost, scheduling, and performance.
• Avoidance and development of recommendations for corrective action for schedule and cost variances.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
• Specialty in DOT Roadway Design preferred
• 8 to 12 years of experience in roadway design
• Fundamentals of Engineering Certificate required
• Professional Engineer licensure in North Carolina or the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
• 3+ years of production experience with OpenRoads Designer
• Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation)
