About the role
The Lexington, KY office is looking for a Transportation Engineer to join our team. The Transportation Engineer focuses on the planning and design related to transportation infrastructure including roadways, expressways and transit facilities. The successful candidate would work as a part of a project team in the development of contract plans for transportation projects according to established engineering standards and state or federal policies.
Responsibilities
- Build strong working relationships with clients, officials, contractors, and internal teams.
- Captures and analyzes data required for the planning and design of transportation facilities.
- Reviews and interprets geotechnical information to support sound design and plan development.
- Prepares plans, estimates, and specifications for transportation facility design.
- Performs and verifies quantity calculations to support accurate bids and construction documents.
- Participates in project meetings and presents technical aspects of assigned work when needed.
- Aids in the preparation of proposals and other pursuit materials.
- Adheres to internal standards for design documentation, workflows, and filing.
- Supports client and stakeholder communication related to specific tasks and meetings.
- Contributes to marketing and business development by delivering high-quality work, providing excellent client service, and supporting project pursuits and CRM activities.
- Aids the project manager with coordination among clients, subconsultants, and project staff.
- Stays current with developments in the engineering profession, particularly in areas of specialization.
- Maintains proficiency with current industry technologies, including relevant software, tools, and processes.
- Assists in the mentoring of others by encouraging, motivating, and developing team members, turning mistakes into learning opportunities.
Requirements
- Completion of a four (4) year college level academic program in Civil Engineering with a Bachelor of Science degree is mandatory.
- A minimum of (5) years of experience.
- PE license required.
Qualifications
- Proficiency with MicroStation and OpenRoads Designer.
- Experience with AutoCAD and Civil 3D a plus.
- Ability to work in groups.
