Transportation Dispatcher

About the Role

The Transportation Dispatcher supervises 5-12 company truck drivers transporting parts, components, and equipment to and from customer, vendor, and company locations and job sites. This role requires knowledge of equipment used by all divisions, strong communication skills, initiative, and a commitment to teamwork and customer service.

Responsibilities

• Answer incoming phone calls
• Provide price quotations and delivery times
• Schedule equipment hauling
• Dispatch company truck drivers
• Handle internal billing procedures
• Supervise 5-12 truck drivers, adjust payroll, and complete performance reviews
• Ensure DOT and company safety regulations and procedures are adhered to
• Ensure preventive maintenance on trucks is performed as required
• Keep accurate records of all work
• Maintain an organized workspace
• Share responsibility for after-hours calls
• Perform other duties assigned by supervisor

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Strong mechanical aptitude
• Experience using personal computers and basic typing skills
• Ability to quickly acquire the following skills and competencies:
  • Customer service skills
  • Written, verbal, and telephone communication
  • Basic computing
  • Microsoft Outlook
  • Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012

Training

• Area-specific technical training
• OSHA and MSHA required training
• Compliance training

Working Conditions

Work is normally performed in a customer, vendor, or company shop or on location at customer job sites. Exposure to physical risk and all-weather conditions is associated with this position. Minimal driving may be required.
