Transportation Design Engineer - CE III
About the role
AECOM is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Mid-Level Transportation Design Engineer to join our growing team in Murray, Utah.
Responsibilities
- Perform transportation engineering design for roadways, interchanges, and urban corridors using industry-standard tools and methodologies.
- Develop and manage 3D models using AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, and OpenRoads/InRoads platforms.
- Execute engineering calculations, analyses, and design tasks for moderately complex assignments.
- Gather, review, and interpret engineering data to support design decisions and project development.
- Prepare design plans, specifications, reports, and supporting technical documentation.
- Identify and resolve discrepancies while ensuring adherence to internal quality control processes.
- Propose solutions to design challenges by adapting standard engineering techniques and prior experience.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated and efficient project delivery.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to entry-level engineers and support staff.
- Manage assigned tasks to meet project budgets, schedules, and quality expectations with minimal supervision.
Qualifications
- Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline and 4+ years of relevant transportation engineering experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
- Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field. 8+ years of experience in transportation design, specifically with highways, interchanges, or urban roadway projects. Professional Engineer (PE) license in the state of Utah or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire. Experience working with the Utah Department of Transportation or similar state or local agencies. Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, and OpenRoads/InRoads.
