Responsibilities
- Make appointments for residents with physicians and other healthcare providers.
- Provide transportation to and from scheduled appointments, outings, and other places as needed.
- Ensure vehicles are kept clean at all times.
- Ensure annual vehicle inspections are completed.
- Ensure regular scheduled oil changes are performed on all facility vehicles.
- Ensure emergency fact sheets in all vehicles are up to date.
- Transport residents for hospital stays and to the hospital as needed.
- Chart required information in care notes after transporting residents to appointments.
- Relay information to RCC or SIC after residents’ physician visits.
- File notes in medical charts after each appointment as needed.
- Assure careful treatment of equipment and utilization of supplies.
- Assist the office manager and administrator as needed.
- Be available for on-call duties, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Report any accidents or incidents to the Administrator or a member of management immediately.
- Help maintain the self-respect, personal dignity, and physical safety of each resident.
- Work cooperatively with all other staff and relate favorably to residents and their families.
- Be familiar with and apply all the home’s accident, fire safety, and emergency procedures.
- Understand and follow all company policies and procedures.
- Report any suspected abuse, neglect, or exploitation of residents to the Administrator or a member of management immediately.
- Follow all regulations as required by the NC Department of Health and Human Services, NC Department of Mental Health/Developmental Disabilities/Substance Abuse Services, and any other State or Federal Agencies as applicable.
- Understand and follow all regulations as required by Federal HIPPA Laws.
- Affirm the Adult Care Home Residents' Bill of Rights and assist residents in exercising these rights.
- Perform other duties as required by circumstance.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid NC Driver's License and maintain during employment
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Able to lift, push, and pull a minimum of 50 pounds
- Able to bend, stoop, squat, and reach overhead as needed
- Have or obtain a 15-hour Medication Aide Certificate within 30 days of hire
- Complete Medication Aide Check off within 30 days of hire
- Have or obtain Medication Aide Certification within 60 days of Check off
- Have a two-step tuberculin skin test (first step prior to hire and second test within two weeks of first test)
- No substantiated findings on the NC Personnel Registry or Health Care Program
- A clear SBI and DMV record and maintain during employment
- At least 8 years of driving experience, as this is a requirement of the company's liability insurance carrier
