Job Summary

The NAPA Auto Parts Private Fleet is seeking a motivated individual to join their fast-paced, rewarding fleet transportation management team. This role involves managing and coordinating transportation logistics to ensure timely and efficient movement of goods and materials.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and coordinate transportation schedules for incoming and outgoing shipments.
  • Communicate with carriers, drivers, vendors, and customers to arrange pickup and delivery of goods.
  • Track shipments and update stakeholders on expected delivery times.
  • Ensure compliance with transportation regulations and safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of shipments, transportation costs, and related documentation.
  • Handle issues related to delays, damage, or loss during transportation and find appropriate solutions.
  • Collaborate with DCs, TLT Carriers, and customer service teams to streamline shipping processes.
  • Analyze transportation costs and recommend improvements to increase efficiency and reduce expenses.
  • Prepare and generate reports on transportation activities and performance metrics.
  • Keep the yard organized by positioning trailers appropriately and managing traffic flow.
  • Work with location team regarding equipment assignment and movement (trailers and tractors).
  • Complete all paperwork associated with the dock to ensure loads are completed timely.
  • Perform Hostler duties as needed.
  • Utilize proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, McLeod software, internet search engines and Copier/Scanner to support daily functions including acting as the subject matter expert and point of contact regarding McLeod Software questions and troubleshooting system problems/error messages.
  • Perform any additional duties as assigned by management and to adhere to all company policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in transportation, logistics, or supply chain coordination.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in transportation management systems (TMS) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work under pressure and solve problems quickly.
  • Knowledge of transportation regulations and best practices.
  • One year of experience operating a Forklift or minimum of two years Hostler experience and using other dock equipment.
  • Proven experience in transportation, logistics, or supply chain coordination.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in logistics, supply chain management, or related field is a plus.
  • Preferred attributes: Detail-oriented with strong analytical abilities, Team player with a customer-focused mindset, Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work in a fast-paced environment, Knowledge of LTL industry preferred, Experience with Mcleod is preferable.

Physical Demands / Working Environment

  • Lifting and Carrying: Ability to lift and carry objects of varying weights, typically 25 to 50 pounds or more, depending on the job duties.
  • Pushing and Pulling: Capability to push and pull carts, pallet jacks, or other equipment loaded with materials throughout the warehouse. This may involve pushing or pulling heavy loads over extended distances or up ramps.
  • Standing and Walking: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, often for the duration of a shift. Warehouse employees need to be able to move around the warehouse facility to pick orders, stock shelves, or perform other tasks.
  • Bending and Stooping: Capacity to bend, stoop, squat, and reach to retrieve items from shelves, bins, or storage racks. Employees need the ability to access items throughout the warehouse at various heights and angles.
  • Climbing: Can climb ladders or stairs to access elevated storage areas or perform maintenance tasks. Warehouse employees need to have the capacity to work at heights to include open floor mezzanines and follow safety protocols for ladder use.
  • Operating Equipment: Proficiency in operating warehouse equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and order pickers. Depending on the job role, employees must pass certification or training programs to operate certain equipment safely.
  • Manual Dexterity: Ability to use hands and fingers to handle small objects, operate machinery controls, and perform tasks requiring precision and accuracy. This may include picking and packing items, labeling products, or assembling shipments.
  • Repetitive Motion: Ability to perform repetitive tasks, such as scanning barcodes, sorting items, or packaging products, throughout the shift. Employees should be able to maintain productivity while performing repetitive motions safely.
  • Physical Endurance: Stamina and endurance to work in a fast-paced environment and meet productivity targets. Warehouse employees need to have the capacity to work long hours, weekends, or overtime during peak periods.
  • Safety Awareness: Commitment to following safety protocols and guidelines to prevent workplace accidents and injuries. Employees should be vigilant about potential hazards in the warehouse environment and take appropriate precautions to ensure their safety and the safety of others.
