Description Education Alternatives (EA) is looking for a Transportation Coordinator for our Transportation Department. This job mainly takes place in an office setting between Education Alternative site locations. EA is a leading provider of special education services in Northeast Ohio. EA focuses on providing behavioral and education programming for students with special learning and emotional needs. EA has 8 locations serving over 400 special education students. EA provides transportation to students Kindergarten through 12th Grade. The Transportation Service Coordinator oversees daily transportation operations to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient student transportation services. This role serves as a central point of coordination between drivers, routing staff, school administrators, families, and maintenance personnel. The Coordinator supports compliance with state and federal regulations, assists with driver supervision, and ensures high service standards across all routes.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Create, update, and monitor job postings to secure interviews for the department for the purpose of creating a steady flow of applicants to assure there are drivers consistently available to meet the department needs.

  • Create connections to job resource providers in the communities EA serves to diversify the Agency's applicant streams.

  • Maintains the Agency's driver and monitor pool along with routing information for the purpose of ensuring a sufficient amount of drivers and monitors are employed to meet the demands of the department.

  • Aid Human Resources with new hire paperwork, background checks, scheduling interviews and other areas as needed.

  • Provide new hires with necessary training (ODE testing requirements, ride along training, and maintenance training) to become eligible to drive Agency vehicles and meet compliance standards.

  • Aids in monitoring driver's files for the purpose of ensuring driver compliance with ODE and eligibility to operate Agency vehicles.

  • Reports to the Executive Director, any issues related to clients and drivers that impacts the department's ability to provide services in a safe and efficient manner.

  • Organizes, collects, and tracks Client Behavior Rating forms, Incident Reports, and Driver logs and reports issues to the Executive Director.

  • Notifies Fleet Manager of issues related to maintenance and repair.

Qualifications

  • Minimum educational level is a high school diploma or a GED certificate and some experience in student transportation or routing preferred.

  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.

  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Job Requirements

  • Valid Ohio driver’s license.
