Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Coincides administrative and operational functions related to the movement of Army Reserve-owned cargo via all transportation methods within CONUS and OCONUS.
- Prepares all necessary paperwork for movements.
- Determines priority, mode of transportation, route, quantity, and type of equipment needed to complete all types of shipments and executes accordingly under DOD 4500.9-R guidelines.
- Plans and oversees the process of inbound and outbound freight shipments, unit moves, and shipping of hazardous and sensitive materials.
- Processes and documents freight for shipment using the appropriate automated systems (e.g., GFM) to generate Cargo Bill of Lading (CBL).
- Collaborates with the Army Reserve customer to gather the necessary information for proper completion of shipping documents when information is missing, incorrect, or incomplete, affecting the shipment.
- Investigates to ascertain or furnish responses regarding the status of freight shipped according to Freight Traffic Rules, Pub. No.10, DOD 4500.9-R, and other relevant regulations.
- Maintains and updates the local commercial carrier list.
- Must receive training and certification in hazardous material movements.
Requirements
- Must meet or exceed the following minimum qualifications:
- At least 2 years' experience working with the United States Army Reserve (USAR) or equivalent (military/DOD) in transportation and freight management programs and Cargo Movement Operations System (CMOS), such as, Global Freight Management (GFM) and Force Asset and Search Tool (FAAST), SYNCADA, Logistics Data Analysis Center (LDAC), DAASINQ, Decision Support Tool (DST), Surface Distribution Deployment Center (SDDC), and Transportability Engineering Agency (TEA).
- A minimum of 2 years' experience directing the flow of shipments both inbound and outbound utilizing GFM/CMOS or similar systems to coordinate freight movement.
