Transportation Assistant
Summary
This position is organizationally located in the VTS Veteran Transportation Service Section of the Business Office, providing administrative support for the Medical Center's Interfacility transfer and travel process. The Patient Transfer/Transportation Coordinator is responsible for arranging the safe transfer of patients to and from Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) medical facilities and non-VA facilities.
Processes Beneficiary Travel Claims
- Utilizes BTSSS, ECAMS, IPPS, and HSRM programs to process beneficiary travel claims.
Coordinates and Monitors Patient Transfers
- Coordinates and monitors patient transfers throughout the process, intervening when necessary to ensure a positive outcome.
Works with Community Facilities and Other VA Facilities
- Works with community facilities, other VA facilities, and other veteran organizations to coordinate patient transportation.
Tracks Denied Transfers/Transportation
- Tracks denied transfers/transportation for Mobility Manager to review.
Initiates and Coordinates Patient Transportation
- Initiates and coordinates patient transportation accurately and timely, as required for scheduled appointments with various services and clinics at outside facilities and other VA Medical Centers.
Assists Patients in Rescheduling Appointments
- Affords assistance in rescheduling appointments for travel.
