Transportation Analyst

About the role
As the Transportation Analyst, you will help manage carrier relationships to minimize freight costs while optimizing service. This role supports the management and audit of LTL, TL, and PTL outbound freight spend and carrier partnerships across Fellowes Brands’ distribution centers in Illinois and Nevada. The Transportation Analyst will also develop a strong understanding of key customer accounts and collaborate regularly with Traffic, Distribution, Customer Service, and APO teams to ensure transportation decisions support both customer service and freight-cost objectives.
Responsibilities
- Assist with month-end budgeting, accruals, and freight reporting
- Manage transportation activities for key customer accounts, including freight coordination, with a primary focus on Amazon
- Develop and maintain strong transportation carrier relationships
- Partner with the Sr. Transportation Analyst to manage and negotiate rates with our 3PL and carrier partners
- Support new item setup related to National Motor Freight Classification (NMFC)
- Analyze domestic freight spend and identify cost-saving opportunities; recommend solutions and partner with the 3PL and internal teams to implement improvements
- Maintain freight payment, audit, and exception-resolution processes to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Stay current on freight classifications, DOT regulations, and relevant transportation-industry developments
- Identify and implement operational improvements that reduce transportation costs and improve processes
- Conduct transportation analysis and special projects in support of business objectives
- Coordinate carrier agreements, freight reporting controls, special shipment requests, and freight-cost governance
Requirements
The hiring range for this position in Aurora, Illinois is $50,000 - $70,000 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, among other factors. An annual incentive may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
