Transport Officers

About the role

This position provides valuable hands-on experience in corrections and law enforcement. Learn about daily jail operations, secure transports, and court procedures while building a strong foundation for a career in public safety.

Responsibilities

• Transports prisoners to and from court hearings, to medical and other facilities as necessary.
• Cleans transport vehicles.
• Receives training in applicable laws and ordinances and in law enforcement principles and procedures as they relate to the duties of the Transport Officer.
• Prepares reports as needed.
• Staffs magnetometer and performs security functions as assigned.

Requirements

• Any combination of education and experience providing the following knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• For Pre-Employment: High school diploma or equivalent. Valid driver’s license and the ability to drive an automobile safely and efficiently. Minimum of eighteen years of age. Mature judgment and imagination. Ability to defend self and others in instances of personal danger. Tact and impartiality when dealing with prisoners and the public. Good physical condition. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, law enforcement, other agencies, and the public. Follow written and oral instructions. Personal background investigation required.

• Competitive pay starting at $24.47/hour with advancement up to $32.47/hour.
• On-call pay starting at $2.75/hour.
• Minimum of four 12-hour on-call shifts per month, scheduled either from 4:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. or 4:00 p.m. - 4:00 a.m.
• Availability for holidays, weekends, and overnight shifts is required.

• Starting at $24.47/hour (DOQ), with advancement up to $32.47/hour.
• On-call pay starts at $2.75/hour.
