Transport Maint Crew Chief (Stanton)

About the role

The Odessa District is looking for a Crew Chief who wants to combine their experience and leadership skills with their knowledge and expertise of transportation maintenance to improve the condition of our roadways at the Stanton Maintenance Office. Responsibilities

• Assists during accidents and emergency weather situations to sand bridges and roads and put up warning signs, and organize response of crews.
• Assists in administration of the maintenance section.
• Estimates and gathers materials and equipment necessary to complete assignments.
• Maintains records on materials and equipment used and employee time sheets.
• Operates light and heavy equipment.
• Performs some maintenance and repair on equipment and trains crew members on the use of equipment.
• Serves as a lead worker by scheduling daily work assignments; serving as a resource for complex questions and troubleshooting of problems; presenting operational updates to the supervisor providing input on team members career conversations; and approving leave requests to ensure operational coverage.

Requirements

• Education: High School Grad or Equivalent in general education.
• Experience: 5 years experience in roadway maintenance related work.
• Licenses and Certifications: Valid driver’s license. This position requires driving a state vehicle. Must have a Class "A" Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or have obtained a Class "A" CDL, without transmission restrictions and an "N" endorsement at the time of hire.

• Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Subject to extreme cold and heat; below 32 and/or above 100 degrees for more than one hour.
• Subject to noise and vibration.
• Subject to hazards-moving vehicles/mechanical parts, high places/heat, or chemicals.
• Subject to atmospheric conditions-fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, poor ventilation.
• Subject to air and/or skin exposure to oils and other cutting fluids.
• Required to wear protective gear-respirator, hard hat, or other device.
