Overview
Sentara is hiring a Transplant Authorization Financial Coordinator. This is a Full-Time position with day shift hours. Position is located in Norfolk, VA.
Job Requirements
- High School Grad or Equivalent required
- Related - 5 years experience required
- Related experience includes 5 years working with Health Insurance Plans OR Medipac OR Registration/Billing OR a combination of the three
- Medical Terminology required
- Associates degree preferred
Position Overview
Provides a direct link between the patients, hospitals, primary care physicians and insurance providers. Determines financial eligibility, verifies insurance and benefits, provides counseling, resources and education, coordinates referrals from PCP's and monitors admissions. Serves as a resource for patients, families and physician office staff for bills, claims and estimated cost of services.

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is the region's first Magnet Hospital. It is a 525-bed medical center, and home to the area's only Level I Trauma Center, Burn Trauma Unit and Nationally Ranked Heart Program. In addition to a first-rate heart program, the hospital is home to Nightingale Regional Air Ambulance and several dedicated facilities and specialized services. Sentara Norfolk General also serves as the primary teaching hospital for undergraduate and graduate education for the adjacent Eastern Virginia Medical School.
