About the role

The Transplant Financial Coordinator plays a critical role in managing the financial aspects of organ transplantation. This position guides patients through the costs associated with the procedure and ensures financial clearance. The coordinator serves as a key liaison between patients, insurers, and the transplant team, collaborating to streamline processes and resolve issues.

Responsibilities

  • Manage complex financial aspects of organ transplantation
  • Guide patients through costs and ensure financial clearance
  • Serve as a crucial liaison between patients, insurers, and the transplant team
  • Verify insurance and secure pre-authorizations
  • Counsel patients financially and assist with aid applications
  • Collaborate with the transplant team and payers to streamline processes and resolve issues
  • Navigate benefit plans, secure approvals, and support patients through their medical journey

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • A minimum of five (5) years experience in outpatient group medical practice and/or inpatient acute care setting, with progressively increasing scope of administrative experience and responsibilities, including patient intake, medical terminology, CPT & ICD coding, third party payer referrals and authorizations, third party payer billing and reimbursement, and managed care experience
  • Knowledge of federal and state End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) financial and regulatory guidelines
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, the ability to communicate effectively
  • Proficiency in software applications

Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Proficiency in Medicare cost reporting, especially organ acquisition Medicare cost reporting; transplant administrative experience; IDX Billing Accounts Receivable (BAR), IDX Hospital Patient Accounts Billing System (HPA); Accredited Record Technician (ART) and/or Registered Record Administrator (RRA)
