About the role

The Donor Coordinator Transplant Assistant provides essential clerical and administrative support to the Donor Coordinator RN, ensuring the smooth operation of the organ offer and acceptance process. This role involves initial response to UNOS organ offer notifications, documentation, communication with OPO coordinators, and various logistical tasks. The assistant plays a vital role in maintaining transplant readiness and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clerical and administrative support to the Donor Coordinator RN.
  • Respond to UNOS organ offer notifications.
  • Handle documentation and communication with OPO coordinators.
  • Perform various logistical tasks to support the organ offer and acceptance process.
  • Maintain transplant readiness and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or GED equivalent.
  • Two to five years of progressively responsible secretarial/administrative experience.
  • Experience in a healthcare setting, particularly in organ transplantation or a similar environment, is preferred.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, as tasks may require.
  • Initiative and ability to take on responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Working knowledge of computer applications including word processing and spreadsheet development.
  • Proficiency in using electronic medical records (EMR) systems, such as Epic or OTTR, and familiarity with Teams is preferred.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and exercise sound independent judgment.
  • Ability to work independently and/or within a team-oriented environment using appropriate CQI tools.
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of individual personalities.
  • Ability to handle confidential information securely.
  • Ability to work independently and for extended periods at a computer.
