About the role

HDR is an employee-owned company dedicated to fostering a welcoming environment where diverse perspectives are valued. We are currently seeking Transmission Line Project Engineers to join our Power Delivery team. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex transmission line designs, coordinate project delivery, and mentor less-experienced team members.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare technical aspects and deliverables for transmission lines design using PLS-CADD and foundation design software like L-Pile, MFAD, or Caisson.
  • Coordinate the preparation of construction release packages, including plan and profile drawings, structure load trees, assembly details, stringing charts, foundation schedules, and bill of materials.
  • Assign tasks and provide guidance to junior team members, conducting quality control reviews for their work.
  • Identify and implement learning opportunities for junior team members through job shadowing, specific project assignments, and knowledge-sharing sessions.
  • Conduct engineering analyses to develop design options and provide input on specific project design issues.
  • Assist with preparing cost estimates and schedules, attending client meetings, and leading design reviews.
  • Manage multiple tasks for various projects, ensuring adherence to schedules and budgets.
  • Perform site visits during the design, construction, and as-built phases of projects, including participating in field reviews or construction observations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • Previous experience in project execution within the Power Market Sector
  • Computer skills in Microsoft Office and Power Market Sector design software (PLS CAD, AutoCAD, Plant 3D, AutoPipe, Revit)
  • An attitude and commitment to contributing to our employee-owned culture

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in developing project manhour and cost estimates and schedules
  • Experience with foundations design using software like L-Pile, Caisson, or MFAD
  • Experience working with renewables developers and/or interconnecting renewables

Pay

The expected compensation range for this position depends on skills, experience, education, and geographical location. For Nevada locations (Las Vegas & Reno): $80,640.00 - $132,480.00.
