About the role

Under direct supervision of a qualified person, perform all types of work involved in the installation, maintenance, rearrangement, operation, removal and inspection of de-energized electrical transmission and distribution facilities. This essential functions are not intended to limit assignment of work or the degree of supervision under all operating conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Perform duties in accordance with the Company's safety rules, regulations and practices and report unsafe conditions and practices.
  • Report irregularities and abnormal conditions.
  • Patrol transmission lines using maps and drawings.
  • Use proper hand signals for line work as required.
  • Install, maintain and repair overhead lines.
  • Dig holes for poles, towers and anchors.
  • Set poles, tower below-ground components, and guy anchorages.
  • Replace or stub poles, dead or energized.
  • Makup and install guys.
  • Assemble tower components on the ground and in the air.
  • Frame pole structures on the ground and in the air.
  • Perform all right-of-way control procedures in use of transmission lines.
  • Select and apply proper knots.
  • Perform rigging and tying off ropes.
  • Operate miscellaneous transmission motor-driven tools.
  • Operate truck-mounted lifting/pulling devices.
  • Load and unload poles, steel and other materials.

Requirements

  • Residency Requirement: Successful candidate must reside within 30-minute drive of the Shreveport Service Center under normal driving conditions.
  • Education requirements are listed below:
    • High school graduate or GED
    • Transmission Lineman C: Minimum of one year transmission electrical power line work experience, OR one year of related line experience defined as: successful completion of a one year electrical power line school certificate plus a minimum of 16 weeks internship or transmission electrical power line experience, or an Associate degree from an electrical power line school which includes a minimum of 16 weeks internship or transmission electrical power line experience.
  • Work Experience requirement listed below:
    • Transmission Lineman C: Minimum of one year transmission electrical power line work experience, OR one year of related line experience defined as: successful completion of a one year electrical power line school certificate plus a minimum of 16 weeks internship or transmission electrical power line experience, or an Associate degree from an electrical power line school which includes a minimum of 16 weeks internship or transmission electrical power line experience.
  • Licenses/Certifications: Valid Class A CDL is required.
  • Other requirements: Physical Demands, Ability to Discriminate between Colors.

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or GED
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of work experience as Lineman C or the equivalent experience as determined by the Company
  • Licenses/Certifications: Valid Class A CDL is required

Skills

  • Transmission Line Mechanic C: $34.69/hr
  • Transmission Line Mechanic B: $40.84/hr
  • Transmission Line Mechanic A: $53.36/hr
