HDR Engineering is looking for a Transmission Line Project Engineer in Fargo, North Dakota to join our growing and nationally ranked team of Power Delivery professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Leads overall technical direction of projects.
  • Schedule and scope support to the Project Manager (PM), including work breakdown structure development and implementation, change management, and schedule management.
  • Budget support to the PM for proposal development, progress assessment, and change management.
  • Ability to lead multiple projects concurrently, utilizing teams in different locations.
  • Thoroughly understands and implements the HDR Quality Management Systems (QMS) requirements, processes, and procedures to deliver a world-class quality product to the client.
  • Supports scheduling for and/or performs quality reviews for all deliverables.
  • Ensures appropriate reviewers are assigned.
  • Participates in quality control or project reviews for peers and other project teams.
  • Collaborates with operations leaders and PM for resource planning and management.
  • Works independently as required and may direct, mentor, train, and/or supervise one or more EIT’s, CADD/Designers, and administrative staff.
  • Independently coordinates the work of engineers and the balance of the team throughout an entire project life cycle.
  • Might be engaged in a mentoring/training relationship with one or more junior engineers or designers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered. Example: Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license.
  • Previous experience in project execution within the Power Market Sector.
  • Computer skills in Microsoft Office as well as standard Power Market Sector design software (examples include PLS CAD, AutoCAD, Plant 3D, AutoPipe, and Revit).
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture.

Qualifications

  • Experience using PLS-CADD, structure analysis, project cost estimates, plan and profile preparation, load and designs, specifications and drawings, and other engineering documents required for power transmission line projects.
  • National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) knowledge.
  • Preference will be given to local candidates.
  • Previous experience with an engineering consulting firm.

Skills

  • Experience with overhead transmission line design and construction from 69kV thru 500kV preferred.
