About the role
K&A Power Group is seeking a Transmission Line Engineer to join their dynamic team in Oakbrook, IL. This role offers the opportunity to work on impactful projects in the energy and utility sectors.
Responsibilities
- Perform detailed engineering and design for overhead high-voltage transmission lines (69 kV to 500 kV+).
- Develop and review plan & profile drawings, structure loading trees, foundation designs, and conductor/insulator specifications.
- Conduct line routing studies, analyze structure spotting, and assess design impacts using PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, and related tools.
- Prepare design calculations, engineering reports, material lists, bid documents, and construction packages.
- Cook up with internal teams including civil, structural, electrical, and project management.
- Support project permitting, environmental studies, land acquisition, and construction activities as needed.
- Participate in design reviews, quality checks, and safety evaluations.
- Maintain project documentation and ensure designs comply with company standards, industry codes (NESC), and client requirements.
- Communicate with clients regarding technical issues, project progress, and deliverable expectations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related discipline.
- 5+ years of experience in transmission line engineering or utility design.
- Proficiency with PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, and SABRE, or similar modeling tools.
- Solid understanding of NESC, ASCE, IEEE standards, and utility engineering practices.
- Experience developing engineering drawings and construction documentation.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Qualifications
- EIT certification; PE license or progress toward PE strongly preferred.
Skills
- Proficiency with PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, and SABRE, or similar modeling tools.
- Understanding of NESC, ASCE, IEEE standards, and utility engineering practices.
- Problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Pay
The salary range for this role is $120,000 - $150,000 per year, considering a wide range of factors including technical ability, experience, licenses and certifications, and related skillsets.
