Role And Responsibilities
- Design and engineer overhead and underground high-voltage transmission line projects ranging from approximately 69kV through 500kV+
- Perform transmission line engineering calculations including conductor selection, pole/tower loading, sag and tension analysis, and clearance studies.
- Prepare construction drawings, material specifications, bills of material, and technical documentation.
- Support route selection, project feasibility studies, and cost estimating activities.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable utility standards, NESC, IEEE, ANSI, ASCE, and other governing codes.
- Cookordination with project managers, clients, contractors, permitting teams, and construction personnel throughout project execution.
- Provide engineering support during construction, including field visits and technical issue resolution.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement of engineering standards and best practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Civil, or Structural Engineering.
- 3+ years of transmission line engineering experience supporting utility-scale projects.
- Experience designing overhead and/or underground transmission lines from 69kV through EHV systems.
- Proficiency with PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, PLS-TOWER, AutoCAD, or similar transmission design software.
- Strong understanding of NESC, IEEE, ASCE, and utility engineering standards.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or ability to obtain.
- Strong communication, project coordination, and problem-solving skills.
