Transmission Line Analyst
About the role
This position provides project scoping, estimating, and conceptual design services for the Operating Company’s Transmission Line projects. You will work with a small team of experienced Transmission professionals to handle estimates and pre-design steps/documentation, supporting Line Design and Civil Design (primarily Substations). The primary focus is developing timely and accurate estimates for Transmission Line projects, using in-house software and on-the-fly labor calculations via a specific spreadsheet.
Successful candidates must have significant estimating experience and/or Transmission Line work experience, with a strong willingness to learn whichever area they are less proficient in. Experience with Southern Company and its systems is an advantage.
Responsibilities
- Develop cost estimates for Transmission Line projects using in-house software and labor calculation spreadsheets.
- Collaborate with the Head Estimator and cross-functional teams to ensure accurate and timely project scoping and pre-design documentation.
- Support Transmission Line and Civil Design teams, particularly in Substation-related projects.
- Manage multiple projects with varying priorities and deadlines, demonstrating strong time management and organizational skills.
- Establish and maintain peer and customer relationships across organizational lines.
Requirements
- General knowledge of Transmission Planning, civil site construction development, and operations maintenance.
- Detailed knowledge of civil site cost estimating.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
- Experience with Transmission Line Design (preferred but not required).
- Ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines.

Pay
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $45.00 per hour.
Schedule
This is a hybrid position based in Birmingham, AL. The role is a contract position with an anticipated close date of August 14, 2026.
