The role is responsible for evaluating current transmission market structures, analyzing proposed changes, and supporting SPP Working Groups through facilitation and in-depth market analysis. This position collaborates with Operations, Legal, Regulatory, Settlements, Training, Engineering, Planning, and Markets teams to ensure alignment across policies, products, processes, and software. The role also engages with market participants, transmission owners, vendors, FERC, and other RTOs/ISOs to influence transmission market policy and design. Responsibilities include facilitating discussions and presenting market design changes to stakeholder committees and groups. Core Responsibilities Review and analyze current transmission market design, identifying market weaknesses and evaluating impacts of proposed modificationsDesign complex solutions to new or changing transmission products, including settlement calculations and functional documentationProvide support and technical expertise to Working Groups and committees, such as the Transmission Working Group and Market Working GroupCollaborate internally across departments to maintain alignment with transmission market design principlesConduct transmission market analysis to identify and resolve issuesDevelop and maintain transmission market metrics, create reports, and prepare educational materialsResearch transmission market designs across other RTOs/ISOsFacilitate discussions, document studies, and present findingsSupport FERC filings through data preparation and assistance with transmittal materials Additional Lead-Level Responsibilities Maintain transmission product and settlement simulation platformsRecommend transmission market design changes and support initiatives through the SPP stakeholder processTrain and mentor Transmission Design Analysts Required Qualifications Senior Transmission Design Analyst Bachelor's degree in economics, mathematics, business, or related fieldFive (5) years of job-related experience Senior Transmission Design Analyst II Bachelor's degree in economics, mathematics, business, or related fieldEight (8) years of job-related experience, including RTO transmission market support, design, or implementation Lead Transmission Design Analyst Bachelor's degree in economics, mathematics, business, or related fieldTen (10) years of job-related experience, including RTO transmission market support, design, or implementation Preferred Qualifications Advanced degree in economics, math, business, or related fieldExperience in utility industry, utility operations, RTO/ISO operations, or energy tradingExperience with RTO/ISO market formulations and optimization techniquesExperience with prototyping market formulation changes or software used to study formulation changesExperience in team leadershipExperience with data manipulation and analysis of large datasets Other Requirements Knowledge of electric market conceptsProficiency in technical and analytical studiesAbility to support cross-team initiatives and complex projectsStrong facilitation, presentation, and public speaking skillsStrong interpersonal and team-building skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsCompetence using Microsoft Office and data-handling toolsStrong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple prioritiesAbility to analyze complex issues and communicate findingsAbility to provide mentoring and training to staff Read the full posting.
