Transmission Accounting Analyst

About the role

This is an open position within FirstEnergy Service Company, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. The role will be onsite and requires residency near Akron, OH or Greensburg, PA. The position provides accounting support and guidance for the FirstEnergy Transmission Business, serving as the communication link between FET Leadership, FEU Finance, Regional Business Services, and various Corporate Departments.

Responsibilities

• Interpret financial and operational data on an ad hoc basis to support development of financial and operational solutions
• Maintain accurate management and financial reporting
• Consolidate FET reports
• Maintain accurate forecasting for cost controls
• Identify and implement business improvements to achieve optimal financial and operational results
• Maintain and report key performance indicators
• Assist in business plan development and establishing financial targets
• Support the annual formula rate process including responding to discovery and working with rates department to ensure positive financial outcomes
• Calculate and record revenue on a monthly basis and analyze any variances to budget
• Conduct strategic research, analyze data, and utilize results to implement solutions
• Assist in preparation and review of various FERC forms
• Perform financial analysis, evaluation, and ad-hoc support as necessary
• Support the quarterly and annual financial reporting process
• Contribute to solutions and exercise sound decision making by developing alternatives and recommendations to improve work processes
• Prepare and/or review general ledger entries
• Provide guidance to business on GAAP and FERC accounting requirements and impact to financial results
• Provide excellent customer service through timely and accurate information, analysis, and reporting
• Develop effective working relationships with employees at all levels of FirstEnergy
• Understand the financial and strategic goals of FirstEnergy

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business required
• General knowledge of financial statement analysis
• Proficient with Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Word
• Demonstrate a questioning attitude to learn, produce results, and strengthen existing relationships
• Desire to continue to learn, grow, and work across FirstEnergy and deliver results
• Excellent analytical abilities
