About the role
MuscaBus, the City's local public transportation system, is seeking a part-time, daytime hours driver.
Responsibilities
- Operate public transit vehicles
- Pick up and deliver passengers safely and on time
- Collect fares from passengers
- Account for money received
- Assist passengers as required
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Experience in high volume telephone or radio operations, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Good working knowledge of Muscatine's geography, including streets and key civic, retail, and medical locations
- Strong customer service and verbal skills
- Ability to think and act quickly in emergency situations
- Commercial Driver's License with a passenger endorsement (current possession preferred)
- Ability to work a flexible daytime schedule up to 20 hours per week
Qualifications
- Class C CDL with passenger endorsement
- Knowledge of the City street system
- Knowledge of traffic laws and regulations involved in vehicular operation
- Some knowledge of the operation and maintenance requirements of a bus
- Ability to work a flexible schedule
- Ability to operate a bus in a safe and courteous manner
- Ability to work with the general public
- Pass drug screen and physical following job offer
Benefits
Wage rate is $20.64/hour. Ability to work a varied schedule is required. Must be insurable by City's insurance carrier.
